As a result of the impending snowstorm, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for the entire day Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021. The National Weather Service is predicting one of the most impactful winter storms in recent years to hit our area. Periods of heavy snow and strong winds are expected tonight. The storm threatens to be disruptive to travel throughout the region.

All employees, students and teachers should remain home. No student activities, school-work or programs will occur, including remote instruction. This includes school-course assignments, homework, afterschool programs and practices. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health will be provided.

Per instruction from the Nevada Department of Education, Snow Days are not considered "days in school" regardless of the digital ability to provide remote instruction.

Consequently, neither teachers nor students are expected to participate in remote learning activities during a snow day. Additionally, there is a possibility that snow days may need to be made up before the end of the school year. Click here for more information about weather related school closures.

In other closures, Storey County schools will be closed. Western Nevada College's Carson City, Fallon and Douglas campuses will be closed for in-person classes and in-person services on Wednesday, January 27 due to the forecast of a major winter storm. Classes will continue online and campus services are available remotely.
